It is well known that children’s time in Early Years provides a foundation for all future learning, and it is a critical stage of their development. Our carefully considered curriculum takes into account our children’s interests and needs, as well as our agreed curricular goals and the end-of-phase outcomes.
All Early Years staff share an understanding that good communication and language development is a priority. High-quality interactions are therefore crucial in supporting children to expand their vocabulary, enabling them to become confident and effective communicators.
In our Early Years classrooms, we aim to create stimulating and challenging environments which engage children’s interests and promote independence.
High-quality provision and hands-on learning opportunities allow children to apply their skills and extend their knowledge, while also developing their own interests and initiating their own learning.
Our learning-through-play approach encourages and supports children to develop their creativity and curiosity. It gives them time to explore their own ideas and build positive relationships with their peers.
Carefully planned experiences are provided to further support children’s knowledge and deepen their understanding. These experiences take into account what each child may or may not encounter at home, and make use of links with our local community.
Strong partnerships with parents enable us to value and celebrate the richness of diversity, through a shared recognition that all children and families are unique.
This understanding is shared with children as we celebrate differences and individuality.
Ultimately, we want all our children to feel happy, safe and to enjoy learning together as they journey through the Early Years Foundation Stage.
It is our intention to provide a curriculum that supports all pupils to develop key knowledge and skills, effectively preparing them for Year 1 and beyond.
